Counseling Approach
Whether you want to make better sense of your situation and challenges, reduce suffering, or are in a transition; you will learn all about your strengths, talents, defenses, and innate potential. I believe strongly in the inner wisdom each of us possesses; sometimes we just need the additional support of a witness to guide you through the necessary inner work. You will be surprised how much you learn about yourself when it naturally flows through you.
Individual Counseling
In individual counseling, it’s beneficial to have the opportunity to feel safe to explore your feelings with a therapist who witnesses your defenses, mirrors back what you are experiencing, and how it affects you. In individual therapy we explore what keeps you from being the person you want to be, and living a more satisfying life. Through self-understanding and insight, you will make better choices, improve your self-esteem, have better relationships, and create more peace and contentment within yourself. Whether you want to develop more awareness, as a means for personal growth, tackle a situational problem, or break old negative patterns that are causing you issues with relationships, work, and life in general — counseling can help. I believe that in order to have healing, you need a warm, supportive, non-judgmental environment with someone who is compassionate, imaginative, and intuitive.
Couples and Pre-Marital Counseling
In couples counseling partners will explore such skills as listening, communicating, handling conflict, talking about shared values, having connecting times, sharing appreciation, and taking time outs, etc. I work to help each couple feel safe to be vulnerable, experience real intimacy, and learn how to be happy as an individual within a couple. I also teach couples how to communicate in a positive manner, rather than use negative coping defense mechanisms. Each individual will be encouraged to voice desires, emotions, and concerns in a non-judgmental and supportive environment. In addition, my office is a total RESPECT ZONE!! I also make it fun and enjoyable by using Gottman Cards to help you learn about each other.
